On June 14, the Office of the National Leading Group on Coordinated Implementation of Building a Quality-powered Nation (the Leading Group) and the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) jointly held the 2024 National Unified Campaign to Destroy Infringing, Counterfeit, and Shoddy Goods. The main venue was in Linfen City, Shanxi Province, with branch venues in 21 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities), carring out synchronized destruction via video link. Representatives from QBPC members were invited to the activities at the main venue in Linfen City, Shanxi Province, and the branch venue in Yulin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Some right holders also exhibited and introduced their products on site.
More than 200 varieties of infringing, counterfeit, and shoddy apparel, shoes and headgear, food and pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, cigarettes, alcohol, cheating electronic scales, and pirated publications were destroyed all over the country, totaling 3,300 tons and worth 330 million yuan. The destruction was carried out in a green and harmless manner.
After the launch ceremony of the destruction campaign, the leaders and participants engaged in activities to identify product authenticity and improve public legal awareness. QBPC member companies such as Procter & Gamble, Apple Inc., PUMA SE, SikaDavco Co., Ltd., Epson, Treasury Wine Estates, Victoria's Secret & Co., and KENVUE set up Product Authenticity Identification Booths on site.
By participating in the event, QBPC representatives gained a deeper appreciation and understanding of the Chinese government's resolute attitude, firm determination, and positive results in protecting intellectual property rights and fighting against infringement and counterfeiting. The destruction campaign effectively deterred the illegal and criminal acts of manufacturing and selling counterfeit goods, which was conducive to create the market-oriented, law-based, and international business environment.
QBPC members were also invited to participate in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region IPR Administrative Judicial Protection and Law Enforcement Exchange Meeting, during which Annick Wang, QBPC Internet Committee Chair, shared her views on IPR protection trends and QBPC administrative cases.
