On April 12, Shanxi Leading Group Office on Fight against IPR Infringement and Counterfeiting (Provincial Administration for Market Regulation) and Quality Brands Protection Committee of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (QBPC) jointly held a meeting on “Combating Infringement & Counterfeiting and Protecting Intellectual Property Rights" in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. The two parties signed the Memorandum of Cooperation on Collaboration Mechanism for Combating Infringement and Counterfeiting. Lei Xiangzhong, Deputy Director-General of the General Office of the Provincial Government delivered opening remarks. Kuang Xu, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Law Enforcement and Inspection of State Administration for Market Regulation, Ju Zhen, Secretary of the Party Group and Director-General of the Provincial Administration for Market Regulation, Michael Ding, Chair of the QBPC, delivered keynote speeches on combating infringement and counterfeiting, protecting intellectual property rights, safeguarding brand rights and interests, and optimizing business environment. Fan Weiqiang, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director-General of the Provincial Administration for Market Regulation hosted the meeting.
Representatives from 10 QBPC member companies, including ABB, Eaton, Anta, Nike, Siemens, Bosch, SKF, Legrand, Sony and FMC, participated in the event and raised questions and suggestions on IPR protection.
The exchange was aimed at strengthening inter-departmental collaboration, building a law enforcement and supervision matrix, establishing a long-term mechanism, forming a comprehensive force against IPR infringement crimes, realizing the whole chain protection of IPR, effectively protecting the legitimate rights and interests of domestic and foreign enterprises such as IPR, escorting for enterprises to invest and develop in Shanxi Province, and further creating a good business environment that respects IPR and encourages innovation.
At the meeting, relevant officials from Provincial High Court, Provincial Procuratorate, Provincial Public Security Department, Provincial Administration for Market Regulation, Taiyuan Customs, Jincheng Administration for Market Regulation, Yangquan Administration for Market Regulation and QBPC members from Anta and Eaton delivered topic speeches on combating infringement and protecting intellectual property rights, shared typical cases, and exchanged with QBPC member representatives.
During the event, member companies of QBPC also set up booths for authenticity identification and product training to introduce product characteristics and the current situation of infringement and counterfeiting to the participants.
Officials from the Department of Law Enforcement and Inspection of State Administration for Market Regulation, Provincial Leading Group on the fight against IPR Infringement and Counterfeiting and representatives of 26 member units including the Provincial High Court, the Provincial Procuratorate, the Provincial Public Security Department, the Provincial Administration for Market Regulation, Taiyuan Customs and nearly 100 relevant staff members from all cities in the Shanxi Province attended the event.
