Create Time:2023-08-16

On August 4, the Quality Brands Protection Committee of China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (QBPC) Internet Committee held the second online introductory meeting on Shopee E-commerce Platform Brand Protection (BP). Yang Lu, Internet Committee Vice-Chair, moderated the meeting and invited Charles Hoskin, Shopee’s Head of BP, and his colleague Shen Tianyu to present on the basic information and the latest developments in Shopee’s IP protection. More than 90 representatives from 55 member companies attended the meeting.

Charles Hoskin was delighted to meet old and new friends from QBPC, and it was the first time that Shopee had communicated with so many brand owners in China. Shopee released its first year BP annual report in July 2023, and looked forward to continuous support and constructive advice from the brandowners.

Shopee, according to Shen Tianyu, was a prominent e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan. The BP team was formally founded in 2022 and still actively learning and building expertise in BP. However, just in the past year, Shopee had achieved incredible strides in BP. The BP team had collaborated with over 300 brands and blocked over 33 million infringing links. She also briefly reviewed the key operations of the BP team since its establishment as well as future initiatives, and addressed queries from new users during registration. Furthermore, Shen Tianyu showed a short video and explained the rules of Shopee’s platform for determining whether a user had violated IP protection. She stated that Shopee would continue to improve and optimize the current brand whistleblowing platform, broaden and deepen cooperation with brands, and strengthen IP protection mechanisms.

In the Q&A session, Shopee's BP team responded to questions about the infringement penalty system, online-to-offline cooperation, and the disclosure of identification information or details of complaints.
