Joint Visit to Jiangsu PSB by QBPC Home Appliances IWG and Lighting & Smart Home IWG

On 16th April, the Quality Brand Protection Committee of the China Association of Enterprises with Foreign Investment (QBPC) Home Appliance IWG and Lighting & Smart home IWG visited the Food, Drug and Environment Crime Investigation Corps (FEDCIC) of Public Security Bureau of Jiangsu (“Jiangsu PSB”). Qingyang Liu, leader of the FDECIC, Responsible officers of the IP Crime Investigation Detachment, Coordinators of two IWGs together with representatives of members ( from Dyson, Philips, Brita, Danfoss, Honeywell, Legrand, Zippo, Signify, Apple and UL) joined the meeting. During the meeting, the two sides conducted exchanges on future cooperation in the field of IPR, and the coordinators of two IWGs also presented a pennant to Jiangsu FDECIC.

 

Captain Liu introduced the IP protection work of Jiangsu FDECIC. Jiangsu PSB had been conducting raids on the counterfeiting activities in many cities throughout the province. Besides, they creatively established Intellectual Property Protection Service Outpost in Wuxi and other cities providing legal advice, rights protection support and IP protection publicity for right holders, which had been acknowledged and promoted by the Ministry of Public Security. He also expressed the wish of strengthening communication between Jiangsu FDECIC and QBPC, helping QBPC members to fix the issues in IP enforcement,  deepening the IP protection as well as optimizing the business environment.

Representatives of QBPC members showed the appreciation to Jiangsu FDECIC and also talked about the new trends of trademark counterfeiting and the difficulties of treatment under the new circumstances of economic development, such as the refurbishment with counterfeit components, the diversified sources and concealment of counterfeit goods on E-commerce platform, the enforcement of copyright protection, etc. The two sides had intensive discussion and explored the new approaches for IP enforcement.

In the end, Jiangsu FDECIC and QBPC members reached a consensus on future cooperation in IP protection. The coordinators of two IWGs looked forward to strengthening communication and seeking opportunities to carry out more cooperation projects with Jiangsu FDECIC.
